I receive so many questions for tattoo cover-up from my bridal clients! I wanted to share my kit staple for tattoo cover - short of having access to my TemptuPRO airbrush {which I’m never without}.

I highly recommend Dermablend Quick Fix Foundation sticks. These are highly pigmented formulas that are 16-hour wear and water resistant/almost waterproof, almost. You can base match yourself at Ulta Cosmetics stores. Always start with a small amount and build up, blotting with either a beauty blender or your finger as you need. I always use a powder puff to lightly set with their Dermablend powder to make sure you have it locked in place. Buff lightly to blur. According to the 2019 Wedding Trend Report, skin is in! Glowing, fresh complexions, and berry red-stained lips are on trend this year, with fluffy lashes taking center stage. Instagram glam of overly done contouring and stenciled brows are out. Natural glamour is the noticbly IN for this year's chic brides! Bridal makeup will be fresh and classic, with bronzes and soft metallics being the choice for this summer's weddings. delicate shimmers & touches of glitter are definitely in.

Vintage metals featured in hair brooches and heirloom pins are replacing last years boho braids and flower crowns. Silver is replacing last year's trendy. rose gold for combs and jewelry. Wedding hair remains loose and relaxed with many brides opting for half up or fully down luxurious, smooth styles.

Lisa Johnson, pro makeup artist at Lisa Johnson Bridal in Orange Beach, AL and Nashville, TN, shares her best makeup tips for brides.

Whether you’re going to be doing your own makeup or hiring a professional, these tips are essentially universal. Here’s how to create a timeless, flattering and photo-ready look.

1. Enhance your natural beauty.

When you’re surrounded by loved ones on your special day, you want to look and feel like the best version of yourself—not someone you don’t recognize. “Makeup is a tool to enhance one’s natural beauty,” says Lisa, “not a mask to make you look like someone you are not.” Ask yourself what your favorite facial feature is—eyes, cheekbones, lips?—and then use makeup to define and enhance that feature. I usually advise to make your eyes pop over a bright lip, heavy shimmer or contour... nothing too trendy.

2. Save the trends and experiments for another day.

I love playing around with new products and colors as much as the next girl, but a wedding is “not the day to try a bold lip or blush on a whim,” Lisa says. Save the fun *new* lip color for your honeymoon!

3. Stay away from heavy, creamy products.

For staying power and the ability to photograph well, Lisa advises against heavy creams and foundations. “If you are feeling dry,” she says, “try a hydrating serum or a gel-like moisturizer on the day of the wedding.” To avoid problems, it’s best to take good care of your skin months before the wedding day. Schedule regular facials and use the correct skincare regimen daily!

I get many questions from brides regarding their wedding day make up services & logistics. There are many things a bride should consider – do you want to travel to a salon on your wedding morning - or would you prefer your makeup & hairstylists come to you? One of the issues when choosing salon vs on-location services is that you can run into back ups at a salon – that is to say your wedding day services may be delayed. Salons can be notoriously late, so it’s my professional recommendation to have on-location services whenever possible. Do you want to have that worry and time constraint on your wedding day? That’s one of the main reasons I recommend the professionals travel to you. There may be a slightly higher price for these luxury services, but worth it for the ease and peace of mind on your wedding day. You won’t be stressed out trying to get back to your venue on time either. I work solely on-location because after 18 years in the business, I can safely say that things do come up on your wedding day and it’s usually best to be at your venue or hotel. LIGHTS CAMERA LASHES!

When it comes to weddings and beauty makeup in general {my favorite!} I love to use strip and individual lashes to add a little {or a LOT!} of drama and volume for your wedding day or special event. I'd wear them daily if I could - there are tons of styles. These are a few of my favorites. I look mostly for "Invisibands" - they look the most natural and are easy to apply to any shape eyelash line - and very lightweight.

These Ardell Lashes are very natural and add just the right amount of volume and curl. These Naturals are Invisibands - you cannot see the lightweight filament band. Very lightweight and beautiful!
